Serving in music ministry is more than singing or playing an instrument - this is a ministry where we are called to use our gifts and talents for the good of others. No egos, no agendas, just the ministry doing whatever we must to help people encounter God and lift His name high.
God deserves our best. The people we serve deserve our best. We lead best by creating music that seamlessly connects the parts of the Mass into one worship experience. It takes skill to do this. We are not called to perfection, but to consistently take that next step towards excellence to serve God and the people as best we can.
Music Ministry is one of more than a dozen ministries that it takes to create our weekend experience of Mass. We recognize the complexity of coordinating these different pieces and seek to work together to contribute what we can in service of the larger vision of our church.
In SPX Music Ministry, we are a team and each of us are responsible for the sound we make and the ministry we are part of. That responsibility requirements commitment to our music, to each other and to God.
I understand that should I be unable to maintain this commitment, my participation in the Music Ministry will need to be reevaluated.
I commit to supporting the Vision of SPX Church: to form disciples, in and beyond Bowie, who joyfully live out the mission of Jesus Christ.
I commit to the values of Music Ministry at SPX Church: service, excellence & teamwork
I commit to healthy relationships with those leading and participating in Music Ministry at SPX:
I have a willingness to take direction and correection to best serve this mnistry and the people of SPX. I commit to communicating with the leadership about my availability and any other issues in a timely manner.
I commit to respecting expectations regarding attendance in Music Ministry at SPX: With regard to series rehearsals and before Mass rehearsals, I understand if I miss a rehearsal or am late to
pre-event practice I won't be allowed to serve at that time.
