The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a visioning, planning and representative body whose purpose is to assist the Pastor in discerning how the parish can best fulfill its vision. The PPC collaborates with the Pastor in making major pastoral policy decisions in areas such as worship, ministry, mission, and finances (including parish facilities).
Social Media Coordinator
Janet Schrom has been a member of the parish since June 1969. She has been married to her husband, Frank, for 28 years and they have 2 daughters, Amanda (35) and Jessica (30) as well as 3 grandchildren who are also members of SPX. Janet serves on the Safety Team and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Janet is the principal of St. Pius X Regional School and her favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate brownie.
Donna Gamble has been a member SPX for 2 years. She has been married to Bob for over 32 years and they have 2 sons, Jeffrey (29) and Christopher (27). Donna serves at Pius2U, on the women’s CRHP team, and is a sub for our parish secretary. Her favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla.
Jose Boluda grew up at SPX and joined the parish as an adult in 1983. He is married to Lee Ann and they have 2 adult married daughters and 1 grandchild. Jose has served on the parish Finance Council and as a member of the Led by Love Campaign Cabinet. He currently leads a Men’s Small group and has volunteered with our Adult Habitat for Humanity mission trips. He works as a defense contractor and his favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate / vanilla swirl.
The parish finance council is a group of parishioners with finance expertise who meet regularly with the pastor and parish accountant.The council reviews monthly financial statements, provides input on the parish's annual budget, maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, and our parish expansion plan.
Katie Lynn Summers:
Katie Lynn Summers joined the parish in May 2017 when she moved to Maryland with her husband Daniel, a Major in the US Army. They have three children: Samantha (5) who is in Prep-K at our regional school, Finnegan (3) and Conor (1). Katie Lynn and her daughter Samantha volunteer in Cafe Pius, serving donuts on the weekend. She works as a microbiologist at the USDA and her favorite ice cream flavor is Moose Tracks!
KidMin, MSM and HSM Coordinator
Harolyn Smith has been a member of SPX for over 18 years. She coordinates our parish’s childcare ministry, is a member of the safety team and has attended and served on a CRHP team. Harolyn currently works at Bowie State University as the Program Administrative Specialist for the Department of Technology & Security. Her goal is to start cooking again as it’s been 13 years since she has worked a regular 8-5, and she is excited to discover life again. Harolyn’s favorite ice cream is Butter Pecan.
Vivian Umeh joined SPX 10 years ago. She is married to Teddy and they have 3 children: Tito Theo, Fred, and Adaugo. Vivian serves as a Eucharistic Minister and is a member of HOPE. She works for M&T Bank and her favorite ice cream is vanilla custard with healthy nuts!
Madonna Chernesky joined SPX in 1990, after beginning to attend regularly in 1988. She has been married to Mike for more than 54 years and they have a son, Michael, and two daughters, Mary and Cathy, along with 4 adult grandchildren. Madonna serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, on the Green Team, as a member of the Sharing Pantry Ministry, in Cafe Pius, and with the Helping Hands Ministry. She has served on a Women’s CRHP Team, and is a member of a Married Couples’ Small Group and the Led by Love Campaign Cabinet. Madonna is retired and her favorite ice cream is Moose Tracks!
Craig Kennedy has been a member at SPX since 1979, become much more active in the past 10 years. He has been married to Catherine for almost 40 years and they have 2 sons, Richard (39) and Brian (34). He serves in Cafe Pius, makes sandwiches for SOME and volunteers with Warm Nights. Craig is currently retired, but previous worked for G.S.A. for 45 years as an Accountant, Financial Manager, Warehouse manager, IT and Telecom manager and finally writing policy and oversight. He also ran an intern program which has carried over into mentoring in retirement. Additionally, he spent several years running change management initiatives, executive development programs and life coaching. Craig’s favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip.
Joseph White became a member of SPX in 2009. He and his wife, Rebecca, have 3 sons: Matthew (18), Michael (18) and Joel (17). Joe is a greeter and served on the Becoming Catholic Team for 2 years. He is retired from teaching American & general Church History at the Catholic University of America. Though retired, he continues doing some research and publication, presenting papers at historical conferences and serving on the editorial board of the Catholic Historical Review. Joe has liked all the flavors of ice cream that he has ever been served!
Dao Dang has been a member of SPX for 3 years along with her husband. She serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and has never met an ice cream flavor she didn’t like!
David Williamson has been a member of the parish for close to 40 years. He is married to Gail and they have 3 children - Regina, Renee, and David - and 1 grandchild. David is a member of a Bible Study, has served on the Men’s CRHP Team, and is a member of a mixed adults Small group. He is retired.

Debbie Pierson has been a member of the parish for 20 years. She has been married to Jim for 27 years and they have 3 children: Amy (23), Jenna (22) and Dimitri (15). Debbie is active as a Eucharistic Minister, serves at Warm Nights and as a Women’s Small Group Leader as well as on our Sacramental Prep Team. She has been a teacher for over 28 years, currently working at Yorktown Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher. Her favorite ice cream flavors are Peanut Butter Chocolate and Pistachio!
